Questions Families Usually Ask Us
When a parent or senior family member travels, the questions are a little different.
Will they be comfortable? Will they be able to keep up? What if they need help? What if something changes?
We’ve thought about these things too.
Here are some of the questions families ask us most often. And if yours isn’t here, call us. A real person will answer — not a menu.

Can my parent or senior family member travel with Golden Journeys?
Absolutely.
Golden Journeys is designed especially around the needs of senior travellers. Our journeys are planned with a more comfortable pace, thoughtful sightseeing, practical assistance and enough time to enjoy the destination without constantly rushing to the next stop.
You don’t have to be an experienced traveller or exceptionally fit to enjoy a Golden Journey.
Tell us what they need. We’ll help you understand what journey will suit them best.
Is there an age limit?
No.
We don’t believe age should be a reason to stop travelling.
Golden Journeys is created with senior travellers in mind, but every traveller is different. When you enquire, tell us about their mobility, dietary requirements, medication or any other consideration that may affect the journey.
The more we know before they travel, the better we can plan for them.
How much walking is involved?
We don’t design Golden Journeys around how many kilometres we can make you walk.
Sightseeing is planned to minimise unnecessary walking wherever practical, with vehicle access, comfort stops and suitable pacing built into the journey.
Some attractions will naturally involve walking, uneven surfaces or steps. We’ll make these details clear in the itinerary so you and your family know what to expect before travelling.
What if they cannot walk long distances?
Please tell us before booking.
Mobility requirements are important to us, and we can review the itinerary with you to understand what will be comfortable and what may require additional assistance.
Our senior journeys aim to reduce strenuous walking, steep climbs and unnecessary movement wherever practical.
Where an attraction requires more walking, we’ll tell you rather than assume they can manage it.
Will there be enough time to rest?
Yes — the journey is not meant to feel like a race.
Golden Journeys is designed around a more comfortable rhythm, with appropriate breaks, relaxed periods and time to enjoy the surroundings.
Because sometimes the best part of a holiday is sitting by the lake, having a cup of tea, enjoying the hotel or simply talking to the people you’re travelling with.
We don’t expect you to keep up with the holiday. We design the holiday around you.
What if they don’t want to do an activity?
That’s okay.
A holiday should never feel like an attendance register.
If they would rather rest at the hotel, enjoy the surroundings or take a quieter moment, they can discuss it with the tour leader or travel team based on the arrangements for that journey.
The goal is to enjoy the journey — not to tick every box.
Will they travel in a group or privately?
You can choose what feels right for them.
Some Golden Journeys are planned as small-group departures with a Beyond Journey tour leader. Others can be arranged privately for families or smaller parties.
Tell us how they would prefer to travel, and we’ll recommend the format that works best for their journey.
Can a son, daughter, spouse or grandchild travel with them?
Of course.
Families travelling together are always welcome.
Whether it’s a spouse, sibling, son, daughter or grandchild, tell us who will be travelling and we’ll plan and quote for the complete party together.
Because travelling with someone you love can make the journey even more special.
Will they get Indian food?
We’ll plan for their food preferences wherever the itinerary allows.
We select hotels and restaurants that can cater to Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences. Specific dietary requirements can also be discussed with us before departure.
If a particular destination or meal has limited options, we’ll tell you in advance rather than leave you to discover it during the trip.
What if they take regular medicines?
That’s absolutely fine — but please tell us before departure.
Travellers should carry their prescribed medicines and any necessary medical documents with them.
If there are specific health, mobility or dietary considerations that may affect the journey, sharing them with us in advance helps us understand their needs and plan appropriately.
We would always rather know beforehand than have you worry about it later.
What if their health or mobility changes before departure?
Tell us as soon as you know.
We understand that circumstances can change, particularly when a trip is planned well in advance.
We’ll review what can be adjusted based on the journey, existing bookings and applicable terms. Any cancellation, amendment or refund conditions will be clearly mentioned in your written quotation and booking terms.
For full details, please refer to our Cancellation Policy.
What happens if they need help during the journey?
They are not expected to figure everything out on their own.
Golden Journeys are planned with practical assistance, comfortable pacing and support throughout the programme.
Your journey information will include the relevant contact details for assistance.
And if something feels unclear or they need help, we want them to ask. That’s what we’re here for.
What if they need medical help during the trip?
If a medical situation arises, the appropriate local medical assistance can be arranged according to the circumstances and the arrangements for the specific journey.
We also ask families to share relevant medical and mobility information with us before departure so that the team can understand any important requirements.
For travellers with specific medical needs, we recommend discussing these with us before booking so we can assess the journey appropriately.
Will the hotels be suitable for senior travellers?
Hotel selection is an important part of how we design Golden Journeys.
We look at practical factors such as location, accessibility, room comfort, lifts where available, bathroom configuration and ease of movement — not just the star rating.
Specific room requirements or mobility considerations should be shared with us before booking so we can confirm what can be arranged at the selected hotel.
Because a comfortable hotel can make a big difference to how you feel the next morning.
What happens if a flight is delayed or the travel plans change?
Don’t panic. Tell us.
Travel can sometimes change because of circumstances outside anyone’s control.
Where support or coordination is required, our team will guide you according to the arrangements and terms applicable to your journey.
Your family shouldn’t have to figure out the next step alone.
Will my family know how the trip is going?
We understand why families want reassurance when a parent is travelling.
The support and communication available will depend on the specific Golden Journey and its arrangements. We will explain the relevant contact and communication process before departure.
Our aim is simple: you should know who to contact when you need to know something.
Can I speak to someone before booking?
Yes. And we encourage you to.
Tell us about the person travelling, what they are comfortable with, what concerns you have and what kind of holiday they would enjoy.
We’ll help you understand the itinerary, pace, accommodation and practical arrangements before you make a decision.
We don’t want you to book a holiday you are unsure about. We want you to feel comfortable with the journey first.
What happens after we book?
We don’t believe our job ends when the payment is made.
Before departure, we’ll take you through the relevant travel details, itinerary and practical information for the journey.
This is also the right time to tell us about any important requirements, preferences or changes.
The more prepared you feel before departure, the more freely you can enjoy the holiday when it begins.
Do I have to pay anything on the website?
No.
You don’t have to make an online payment just to enquire or start planning your journey.
We’ll first understand what you need, prepare the itinerary and share the quotation with you. You can review the plan, ask your questions and make an informed decision before proceeding with payment through our office.
No pressure. First, let’s make sure the journey is right for you.
What if I am still worried about sending my parents?
That’s completely understandable.
They’re your parents. Of course you’ll worry.
Our job isn’t to tell you not to worry. It’s to make sure the journey has been thoughtfully planned around them — from the pace of the itinerary and practical assistance to the hotels, meals, transfers and experiences.
These are the things we think about before you have to.
So you don’t have to manage their holiday from home.
You Travel Freely. We’ve Got You.
