Overview

Madurai located on the bank of Vaigai River. It has been a major settlement for two millennia and has a documented history of more than 2500 years.It is home to several historic temples, including the world-famous Sri Meenakshi Amman Temple. The twin temple enshrines Lord Siva as Sundareswarar and his spouse, Meenakshi. Rameshwaram is believed to be the place from where Lord Rama started his journey to get his wife Sita back from Ravana and the Lord was helped by 'Vaanar-Sena' army of legendary monkey-humans and served by Hanuman, Lord Ram's paramount devotee. Also, many later versions of Ramayana testify of installing a ShivaLingam by Shri Ram and Devi Sita to worship Lord Shiva as a part of penance for Brahmahatya - killing of Brahmana, Ravana who was himself a well-known staunch follower of Lord Shiva.

Itinerary


Arrival on Madurai airport, Madurai city south central Tamil Naidu state in southern India. It is Located on Vaigai River, about 48 km from the southeast of Dindigul. It is the third most populous, and probably the oldest city. The tour representative will help you in transfer to your hotel and directs you towards the check-in process. We will visiting three of the major landmarks in this city includes Thirumala Nayak Palace, Gandhi Memorial, and Meenakshi temple.
Thirumala Nayak Palace - It is a 17th-centurypalace created in 1636 AD by King Thirumalai Nayak, a king of Madurai. This palace is a classic fusion of Dravidian and Rajput styles. The palace also hosts a light and sound show every day in the evening around 7 pm so after your day tour will be over then, you can here and enjoy that show.
The Gandhi Museum- The museum which is only 3 km away from this place. We will find yourself walking along a tree-lined road during this short trip. On reaching the museum, we will see out the sections accounting the Indian struggle for freedom and a separate section exhibiting some rare objects related to the life of Mahatma Gandhi.
Meenakshi Temple-  It is a 15-acre temple complex which is guarded by gateway towers made of multi-colored images of gods and demons. You will enter the temple complex through the eastern entrance, you will then see a 1000 pillars hall which is intricately designed by life-size figures. The temple is dedicated to the goddess Meenakshi Amman, Sundareshwarar. It’s known for its colorful architecture, which includes, 14 gopurams, mandapams, sculptures.The tallest gopuram is the southern tower, which stands at 170 ft.

Rameswaram which is only 170 km away from Madurai. For Rameswaram, We will enjoy driving alongside the lush green beauty of Tamil Nadu. The tour representative will assist you in your check-in process to the hotel.
RamanathaswamyTemple which is one of the 12 holy Jyotirlingas in India. The temple is dedicated to the sacred mound a sculpture which is believed to be carved by Goddess Sita, so that Lord Rama can worship Lord Shiva and is expected to witness thousands of visitors every day. It also said that the temple has 22 wells and the water of the well has some medicinal properties. We will visit are Ram Padam, Agnitheeram, and Hanuman Temple. Rama Padam is a place which is believed to be housing a chakra which has Lord Rama feet engraved in it. Next will be Agnitheeram, a temple where Lord Rama once worshipped Lord Shiva and lastly, Hanuman Temple which exhibits floating stones.

Kanyakumari which is 325 Km away from Rameswaram. We will be drive alongside of green paddy fields and coastal belt of the Lands End of India.
Ramanathaswamy temple then, we may have to proceed towards Kanyakumari a little late. While driving towards Kanyakumari, we will take a short break at Tiruchendur, a sea shore temple of Subrahmanyam. Head towards a half-day tour to Vivekananda Memorial. We will have to take a ferry to two-Mandapa Rock Memorial. Then we will see a huge statue of a famous Tamil poet ‘Tiruvallur’ here which is believed to be carved by around 5,000 sculptors. Then in the evening, watch the setting sun at Kanyakumari shore. Overnight at kanyakumari.

A beautiful sunrise scene, proceed towards your next destination ‘Trivandrum’. While you will be driving towards Trivandrum, you start sightseeing of Thanumalayan temple at Suchindram which is housing a 22ft height Hanuman statue. To the head towards a half-day tour to Trivandrum. Padmanabhaswamy temple which is also considered the richest temple of India. After having darshan, you will check out the Puthenmalika, a famous horse place exhibiting some ancient wooden sculpture work. Later, you can check out some famous oil paintings and antique collection at Napier Museum. Overnight at Trivanduram.

After breakfast, check out from the hotel in Trivandrum. Transfer to Trivandrum Airport or railway station for departure.

  • Between 30 days to 15 date before the travel date 10% of the total cost will be deducted on International Packages.
