Itinerary

 

 On arrival and transfer to the hotel.

Afternoon proceed for a city tour of Varanasi is the tour will include visit to the numerous temples, which dot the banks of the river. During the tour you will be able to walk through the narrow lanes and stop byat the bazaars to have a look at, among other things, the world-famous Banaras silks.

The best time to visit the Ghats is dawn when pilgrims take their morning dip. The most famous Ghat is the Dasaswamedh Ghat from where we begin this tour. Enjoy the boat ride while looking out for people on the ghats – the women bathing discreetly in their sarees, the young men displaying prowess in yogic postures & the Brahmin priests offering prayers for one and all.

Later visit Sarnath is a city located 13 kilometres north-east of Varanasi. This city is mentioned by the Buddha as one of the four places of pilgrimage to which his devout followers should visit, Before Gautama attained enlightenment, he gave up his austere penances and his friends, the Pancavaggiya monks. Seven weeks after his enlightenment under Bodhi tree in Bodh Gaya Buddha left Uruvela and traveled to Isipatana to rejoin them because, using his spiritual powers, he had seen that his five former companions would be able to understand Dharma quickly. The deer park in Sarnath is where Gautam Buddha first taught the Dharma and where the Buddhist Sangha came into existence through the enlightenment of his former five disciples. Buddhism flourished in Sarnath in part because of kings and wealthy merchants based in Varanasi By the third century Sarnath had become an important center for the arts, which reached its zenith during the Gupta period. 

Also visit Sarnath museum which houses an excellent collection of Buddhist art and sculptures and the Wat Thai Sarnath temple Located in the same campus as Giant Buddha. This place is apt for meditation. Temple is well built and hosts a golden statue of Lord Buddha.

This sacred place is situated on the Bank of River Niranjan. Serene and quiet this tiny little village, holiest among holy places, is Bodhgaya where the quest of Prince Siddharth was fulfilled after years of seeking the truth and the Saga of Buddha began. The Mahabodhi temple houses the Bodhi tree under which “The Buddha” attained the supreme Emperor enlightenment. The Mahabodhi Temple was originally erected by Ashoka in 3rd century B.C. The architectural effect of this temple is superb, with a basement is 48 square feet, and it rises in the form of a slender Pyramid.

Visiting En-route Nalanda, home to one of the oldest known universities of the world. Its ruins show that over 2000 teachers and 10000 students from all over the Buddhist world lived and studied here. The ruins also contain a number of Buddhist Stupas & Chaityas, monasteries, hostels, cells or rooms on four sides with a central courtyard, an international centre for Buddhist studies also functions here. 

Later drive 15 kms to Rajgir which is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site.

Afternoon we visit Part of Rajgir where Buddha spent 12 years of his lfe here after attaining Enlightenment. It first said that the first Buddhist council after the Buddha was hosted here at the Saptaparni caves which was attended by over 500 monks and was led by Maha Kashyap will be part of the visit.

Morning we will visit the rest of Rajgir the ancient capital of Magdha Kings. One way ride takes 8.5 minutes and the view is splendid over the hills of Rajgir. Start the visit with Gridhkuta a hill on which Buddha mediated, is a popular sightseeing location perched at an altitude of 400 m. It is also known as the Vulture's Peak as it is shaped like a vulture and also provides frequent sightings of the bird. It is the tank in which Buddha used to bathe. Rajgir is also an important place of pilgrimage for Hindus as the temple complex here is dedicated to the Sun God. Later drive to patna.  Check - in hotel.

Morning drive to Khushinagar for 6 hours. Having an elected body of representatives holds special significance for the Buddhist devotees. At Kolhua, Lord Buddha delivered his last sermon, hinting at his impending departure from the mortal world. Vaishali is famous for Amrapali, the beautiful dancer and courtesan of Vaishali, who offered Buddha a mango orchard and was so impressed by his teachings that she later became a nun. Continue drive to Kushinagar and check-in at hotel.

In the morning we will proceed for the sightseeing tour of Kushinagar earlier name known as Kushinara. It is believed that Buddha attained 'Mahaparinirvana' release from the endless cycle of birth and rebirth here. 

Visit Mahaparinirvana Temple is 6-10 meter long statue of the Buddha in a reclining position. The image was unearthed during the excavations of 1876. Carved from Chunar sandstone, this statue represents the dying Buddha reclining on his right side. The statue of the Reclining Buddha at the temple is one of the most sacred sites for the pilgrims and a mound of bricks marks the place where Buddha is said to have been cremated. In the morning we will proceed our journey to Lumbini approx 5 hours. On arrival check- in hotel.

Lumbini is the birth place of Lord Budhha. Arrive Lumbini and check-in at hotel.  Later, visit the Ashokan Column, the famous Rummindei Pillar, which commemorated the emperor's visit in 249 B.C. It still stands to mark the sacred spot of Buddha's nativity.

In the morning proceeds for sightseeing tour of Lumbini, the birth place of Prince Siddhartha. He rennounced his riches in favor of seeking peace and enlightment as Gautam Budhha. Here is the seat of Buddhism, a religion that blossomed and spread across the world.  Later Drive from Lumbini to Gorakhpur Airport to board flight for arrive Delhi & transferred to airport for onward destination.

  • If booking is 15 days before the travel date: 100% refund for Domestic Packages.
  • if booking is 30 days before the travel date: 100% refund for International Packages.
  • Between 30 days to 15 date before the travel date 10% of the total cost will be deducted on International Packages.
  • Between 15 days to 1 Day before the travel date: 100% cancellation on Domestic & International Packages.
