Overview
Uganda is famous as the Pearl of Africa and hospitable to visitors. Uganda's Culture also attracts tourists with over 50 tribes flourish in land and being a home of the Africa Big Five such as the Lions, Leopards, Rhino, Buffaloes and Elephants and of all it boosts with the unique tree climbing lions. It is well known of its wide range of species including the half remaining mountain gorillas in the world found in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, gorilla and both gorillas and golden monkeys in the Mgahinga Gorilla National park. it also features with the largest freshwater lake on the continent ‘’Lake Victoria ‘’, the source of the longest river, strongest waterfall, numerous primates and largest number of great mountain gorillas worldwide. Kibale Forest is a special place with 13 primate species, the most in the world. Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga National Parks are vital for over half of the world's mountain gorillas. It is a top spot for affordable and memorable primate encounters. Wild chimpanzees can only be found in Africa. . Kisoro is a town in southwestern Uganda known for its mountain scenery, colorful markets, and proximity to the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. It has a second deepest lake named as Lake Bunyonyi. Murchison Falls National Park sits on the shore of Lake Albert, in northwest Uganda. It’s known for Murchison Falls, where the Victoria Nile River surges through a narrow gap over a massive drop. It is notably blessed with over 144 mammals,556 bird species,51 reptiles, and 51 Amphibians. With a great number of African elephants. Queen Elizabeth National Park is known for its abundant wildlife, including African elephant, African buffalo, Ugandan kob, hippopotamus, topi, waterbuck, warthog, giant forest hog, Nile crocodile, leopard, spotted hyena, chimpanzee and lion. The park is home to 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species. Gorilla tracking, from Travellers Rest in Kisoro it is 1 hour or 20 minutes by car to Nkuringo group or Rushaga area home of Nshongi, Mishaya, Kahungye, and Bweza groups in south Bwindi or to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. It’s 15 minutes’ drive from Gorilla Valley Lodge to Rushaga ranger offices.
Itinerary
Early morning,we will pick you up from your hotel and leave for Murchison Falls through Bombo and Luwero to Nakasongola and make a stop at Ziwa rhinos sanctuary for tracking the rhinos. You will track them on foot and support this important initiative to reintroduce rhinos to protected areas. Rhino tracking takes between 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Ziwa is the breeding ground for the endangered southern white horned animals.

In the morning we will go for the game drive at the Northern side of the Nile, special here are the lions, giraffes, Elephants, Leopards, Uganda Kobs and many more animals. In the afternoon we have the impressive launch trip on the Nile to the falls. Hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, elephants and many birds will be seen. Murchison Falls is characterized by eternal war between rock and water.

Early morning the boat will take us downstream to the Victoria Nile delta. The place where the Nile enters Lake Albert! This 4-5 hours trip starts at 7:00am and it will show us all the beauty of this national park especially the Victoria Nile delta with all the different bird species.

In the afternoon is a visit to the top of the Falls, a wonderful view down into the 6-meter thunderous chasm, you will stop off at the north bank during your game drive and walk down a set of steps to stand within meters of the rapids and listen to the roar.

Early morning departure for the journey to Kibale Forest. We will drive through the park via Tangi gate to Bugungu gate and then proceed to Hoima town where we will take a short break and stretch.
Have a lunch break before driving to Kibale. We will have a short walk in the tea plantation as you take photos. In the afternoon we will arrive at Kibale Forest Camp, sleeping with the noises of the tropical rainforest.

Kibale forest is believed to contain the highest concentration of primate species in East Africa, which include 1,450 chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, red monkeys, blue monkeys and Olive baboons among others. Tracking to the habituated chimp troops is conducted by the trained guides who will also give you more information about the forest in general including the secrets of the flora and fauna giving you a memorable and enjoyable trail. The group of chimps in Kanyanchu community is probably the largest in Kibale forest. The park is also known for a colorful variety of 250 species of butterflies and 375 bird species.
Optional-Chimp Habituation Experience
Today you will enjoy one of the most spectacular and amazing wildlife experiences in the world where you will spend 4 hours with the Chimps once you find them. This tour will give you significantly more time with the wild chimps than most other tours, as we attempt to meet up with the chimps as they de-nest and begin their daily routines.

Early morning departure for Queen Elizabeth National Park through the Crater Lake field! Crater lakes are formed by velocity, with a violent eruption causing the top of a volcano to be blown off leaving a crater lake. There are several lakes of varying size and character. The craters are safe for swimming, have frequent sightings of black and white colobus monkeys and Nyinambuga being one of the most popular lakes with its image printed at the back of the 20,000sh note of Uganda. We reach Queen Elizabeth Bush Lodge in Queen Elizabeth National Park at midday.
Optional – Kyambura Chimps: Very early in the morning after breakfast we depart from Kibale Forest and go to Kyambura Gorge.

This day is for a game drive on the plains of Queen Elizabeth with thousands of Ugandan kobs, lions, elephants and guinea fowl scuttle through the grassland etc. Also on the program is a two hours’ launch trip on the Kazinga channel where we will see all the animals such as buffalos, hippos, monitor lizards and different bird species along the banks.

In the morning, we leave Queen Elizabeth for Kisoro, the bad road takes us through a beautiful landscape called the “Switzerland of Africa”. We pass mountains, Hills and lakes with cultivated terraces and tropical rainforest and bamboo forest. On the last hill, the landscape unfolds beneath us, in the vast plane of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo the Virunga volcanoes dominate the view. Down is Kisoro where we will stay in the famous Travellers Rest Hotel just outside Kisoro. This is a unique and one of the oldest hotels in Uganda that offers a cozy stay for the tourists, who come to see the endangered mountain gorillas. It was entirely renovated in 1999, but charm of the somewhat colonial style still remains up to today. In the sixties, the famous American ‘Gorilla-woman’ Dian Fossey visited Hotel Travellers Rest many, many times to do paperwork, to relax or to meet people.

This is the day of Gorilla tracking, from Travellers Rest in Kisoro it is 1 hour or 20 minutes by car to Nkuringo group or Rushaga area home of Nshongi, Mishaya, Kahungye, and Bweza groups in south Bwindi or to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. Once there you will first receive a briefing (7.45am) and at 8.30am you will start the tracking. Once you have found the gorillas, you will be able to spend up to one hour with them. The walks can take 3-9 hours depending on where you find the gorillas. It is a real hike and being physically fit is recommended.

The Batwa Trail runs across the lower slopes of the Muhavura and Gahinga volcanoes in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. The forest is home to a variety of wildlife but the Batwa Trail is far from being a conventional nature walk. With the help of Batwa guides, you'll see the forest as a larder, pharmacy, builder's yard, tool kit and, above all a home. The highlight of the trail is a descent into the Garama cave, a 200m-long lava tube beneath Mt. Gahinga.

Early in the morning we will leave for Lake Mburo National Park, driving through one of the most scenic routes in western Uganda passing through an extensive bamboo forest, as well as the “Kanaba gap”, where a clear view of the volcanoes in Uganda can be seen, as we drive down through the beautiful views of Lake Bunyonyi being the deepest Lake in Uganda with every rich history. It’s not surprising that the road is the favorite for both tourists and Locals. You will have lunch in Mbarara before you continue to Lake Mburo, a smaller but unique park, and the only one in the Western part of Uganda with impalas and zebras. In the park we will go on an afternoon game-viewing/drive. This little park hosts a variety of animals, that is to say 68 mammal species, including a large number of impalas (the antelope from which “Kampala” is named after), zebras Uganda kobs, duikers, bushbucks, Ankole cattle topis, buffaloes, leopards, spotted hyenas, waterbucks, warthogs, oribi. There are 315 bird species including; shoebill stork, red-faced barbet, crested crane, papyrus yellow warbler.
Crocodiles and hippopotami are permanent residents, and buffalos come to drink during the dry season. Others include; impalas (the antelope from which “Kampala” is named after), zebras Uganda kobs, duikers bushbucks, Ankole cattle topis, buffaloes, leopards, spotted hyenas, waterbucks, warthogs, oribi.

Early morning after breakfast we will head for a game drive /walk. It’s the best time to roam the park in search of wild life especially the Impalas. Lake Mburo national park has a network of game tracks in the east of the park which passes a variety of land scape features, acacia woodlands, grassy hillsides.We will bring you back to hotel of your choice in Kampala for overnight. If you are continuing your journey somewhere else or back home.
Important Note: The age limit for Gorilla tracking is 15 years and Chimpanzee tracking is 12 years.
