Meghalaya is mountainous, and it is the rainiest state of India. The word Meghalaya means, "abode of the clouds". Meghalaya is one of the Seven Sister States of northeast India. The state of Meghalaya is mountainous, with stretches of valley and highland plateaus, and it is geologically rich. Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya. It was a small village until 1864, when it became the new civil station of the Khasi and Jaintia hills. It is a hill station that is present in the northeast part of India. It is called the Scotland of the East because the rolling hills around the town reminded the British of Scotland. Umiam Lake is the perfect spot for a picnic or a leisurely boat ride. It's Peak is the highest point in the city and offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. The origin of the temple dates back to the mythological ages when it is said that Sati the first wife of Lord Shiva upon self immolation was cut into 51 pieces and her sexual organ fell on the Nilachal hills where later on the Kamakhya temple was built by Kaamdev with the help of Lord Bishwakarma and was named. The Kamakhya temple, located at a distance of 7 km from Guwahati, is one of the biggest Shakti shrines in the country. Situated on the Nilachal hills, this temple is an important pilgrimage centre for tantric worshippers and Hindus.

Itinerary

 

Welcome to Shillong, It is famous for its green fields, misty mountains, fragrant flowers and lush green elevations. Shillong is home to several lakes, including Ward’s Lakes also known as Pollock’s Lake or Nan Polok Lake and Umiam Lake. In shillong a Elephant lake is a combination of three rivers. On the way visit Umiam Lake & enjoy boating. Evening is free for local marketing.

Overnight at the hotel.

After breakfast full day explore to Mawlynnog also referred as “God’s own Garden” has won the award in the cleanest village in Asia. This offers many interesting sights auch as the Living Root Bridge. This cute and colourful little village is known for its cleanliness.

After proceed at Dawki is the border of India and Bangaladesh. Dawki-Tambil is the road for border crossings between India and Bangladesh. It is mainly used for coal transportation. Dawki Bridge is a suspension bridge over the Umngot River. It ws constructed by the Britishers in 1932.

Overnight at Shillong.

After morning breakfast, we drive to visit Cherrapunjee “The Wettest Place on Earth” for sightseeing. On the way visit Elephant Fall & Shillong Peak. Places like natural beauties to view are Limestone Cave, Waterfalls-Nohsngithiang Falls, Dainthlen Falls, Nohkalikai Falls, Seven Sisters Falls.

Overnight at Guwahati.

After breakfast, in the morning you will go for Maa Kamakhya Temple for darshan and back to the hotel for check-out & depart for departure. Today you will depart from Guwahati with a cute smile on your face remembering all the sweet moments spend here and drive back to GHY Railway Station/ Guwahati Airport for onward destination.

  • If travel is within 15 days of the travel date: We will require 100% payment.

Cancellation Policy

  • If booking is 15 days before the travel date: 100% refund for Domestic Packages.
  • if booking is 30 days before the travel date: 100% refund for International Packages.
  • Between 30 days to 15 date before the travel date 10% of the total cost will be deducted on International Packages.
  • Between 15 days to 1 Day before the travel date: 100% cancellation on Domestic & International Packages.
